"Finding a church that would help our family grow closer to Jesus and closer together has been a priority of mine for the past couple years. We've been attending Compassion Church - Suffolk for quite a few months now and we have truly enjoyed it. Everyone is so welcoming. I look forward to what the future holds and thank the Lord for His blessing

We first came to Compassion Church - Suffolk last year during the Christmas Express play. We were days away from moving to our new house in the Holland area. My girls were invited to youth group by Heather Gray. Once they started going to youth group it wasn’t long before they started begging to go to church. I reluctantly went. I had long ago accepted Jesus as my lord and savior, but my experience with church had been painful. The one church I got attached to the pastor left suddenly. That church struggled to find another pastor. I tried out several other small churches over the years and found more church hurts. It’s safe to say I never knew what a true church family could be. I came from a broken home wrought with addiction, and years of trauma had my heart guarded. I was numb to the world. My love for people was none existent. In less than a years time I’ve learned what it means to have a true relationship with God. I’ve grown to pray about everything. I realized I had felt so insignificant in the world that I wasn’t worthy to ask God for help. I didn’t feel like my prayers were worth his time. I didn’t think I was worth his time. In less than a years time, I gave my life over to the Lord. I prayed that God would lead me to his plans for my life. My life is being transformed. It’s unrecognizable from just one year ago. I use to hate people and felt like most were only out to hurt you. God has shown me that peoples behavior is often to do with the pain and problems they’re dealing with. This change of view has filled me with compassion and love I’ve never known. I’ve gone from a cold and broken woman, to hosting our youth group kids at my house every Wednesday. I’ve seen God use my teenage trauma to help other kids facing the same issues. I’m watching bonds form at my dinning room table and seeing these kids help each other. God is moving here at Compassion Church - Suffolk and we welcome anyone no matter where you find yourself. It’s never to late to have a personal relationship with Jesus
